Social media stress? There's an app for that

You’re the coolest person to know on Facebook, follow on Twitter and connect with on LinkedIn. But it's been hard work keeping up appearances on social media. What if you could take a break from the obligations of social networking once in a while but still appear connected?

Introducing Kit Kat Social Break, a widget that spares you the pressures of hitting the Like, Re-tweet or Share button every time you are tagged in a post. Simply turn on the widget, log into your social media accounts and tune out from the stress of social networking whenever you feel you need a break.

How do I take a social break?

Download and install the Kit Kat Social Break desktop widget to free you from the obligations that social media brings with it. To begin, go to Settings and log into the respective social media accounts. You may also set the frequency according to your preference. Once you're done, turn on the widget and sit back to enjoy the following:

1. Facebook Auto Like
Automatically ‘Like’ photos and check-ins that you are tagged in by your friends. Here’s a thumbs up to keeping the chore out of Facebook.

2. Twitter Auto Reply
Automatically ‘Reply’ to tweets with relevant responses that are chosen randomly. Be the social butterfly that you are without having to flit in and out of Twitter.

3. LinkedIn Auto Share
Automatically ‘Share’ posts that your contacts on LinkedIn have shared. Now it is possible to seem intelligent without even lifting a finger.

Why the world need a social break?

Social media has definitely been a colossal boon for the way we interact with our friends, families and well, fans and followers too. Yet, for all its benefits, it also has a dark side: creeping addictiveness and mounting obligations.

Starting with a harmless, occasional status update or tweet. It slowly explodes into a disabling condition: Obsessive check-ins, pokes, sheep throwing, sharing random posts, replying to random posts, the list is endless and still growing. If you’ve experienced all of the above, take comfort in knowing that you’re not the only one.

A survey of 19 to 26-year-olds, conducted in China, Singapore and the U.S. by JWT Singapore, found that over 50% of young adults find it too time consuming and stressful to keep up with all their social media commitments.
